The Accord Party, AP, on Osun State has accused the All Progressives Congress, APC, of inconsistency and leadership failure.

It blasted the opposition over what it described as contradictory claims surrounding the economic blueprint of that party’s governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO).

In a statement signed by the Osun State Chairman of Accord, Pastor Victor Akande, on Monday, the party said the APC’s claim that the economic blueprint criticised by Governor Ademola Adeleke was “imaginary” was misleading and dishonest.

According to Accord, the document in question was publicly released and circulated by the APC candidate’s media team across multiple platforms, with direct quotations attributed to Oyebamiji, making it legitimate for stakeholders to interrogate its contents.

“The economic blueprint was not imagined by Governor Adeleke, the Accord Party, or anyone in government. It was released, promoted, and defended by the APC candidate’s own media handlers before it was suddenly disowned,” the statement said.

The party alleged that after the Adeleke administration responded to the document with what it described as a detailed and substantive critique, the APC abruptly reversed its position and denied ownership of the document.

Accord described the development as an embarrassing political somersault, accusing the APC of attempting to divert public attention through insults and personal attacks rather than addressing the substance of the policy critique.

“You cannot release a blueprint in the morning, defend it in the afternoon, and disown it at night, then accuse others of imagination. Leadership demands responsibility,” the party stated.

The party further questioned the preparedness of the APC governorship candidate, arguing that a candidate who cannot take responsibility for a policy document released in his name lacks the moral authority to govern a complex state like Osun.

Accord also criticised the APC for allegedly resorting to abusive language instead of engaging in policy-based debate, describing the approach as a sign of intellectual bankruptcy.

The party contrasted the APC’s position with the performance of the Adeleke administration, stating that the governor was not campaigning on theory but delivering measurable results across key sectors of the economy.

According to the statement, the Adeleke-led government is implementing a people-focused economic agenda reflected in infrastructure development, digital economy expansion, local content enforcement, debt management, agro-industrial revival, and grassroots empowerment initiatives.

Accord argued that the APC’s reaction was driven by fear, adding that the opposition party was unsettled by a government confident enough to subject policy ideas to public scrutiny.

“The people of Osun saw the blueprint when it was released, and they saw it being disowned when it collapsed under scrutiny. No amount of revisionist rhetoric can change these facts,” the party maintained.

The Accord Party urged the Osun APC to conduct its political affairs with greater seriousness and consistency, stressing that Osun State deserves leaders who can stand by their ideas, defend them with facts, and improve them through public engagement.

The party stated that voters in the state are watching developments closely and would ultimately pass judgment at the polls.
