The leadership of the ACCORD Party has dismissed rumours of an internal crisis, affirming that Mr. Maxwell Mgbudem remains its authentic National Chairman.

It described recent reports suggesting otherwise as unfounded fabrications promoted by “political jobbers” and desperate opposition elements.

In a statement issued by Hon. Oke Rotimi Michael, spokesperson of the Forum of State Chairmen (South West) and Chairman of ACCORD in Ogun State, the party reiterated that Mgbudem has not been suspended, contrary to claims circulating on social media.

He emphasized that “the rumour making rounds that our National Chairman, Maxwell Mgbudem, Esq., has been suspended is absolutely and totally false.”

Rotimi explained that during the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on 3rd December 2025, a vote of confidence was passed on both the National Chairman and the entire National Working Committee (NWC). No disciplinary action was taken against Mgbudem.

“ACCORD remains a law-abiding and constitutionally guided party. No individual can create chaos within us through baseless allegations,” he added.

The statement also addressed misleading information being circulated by former Presidential Candidate Prof. Chris Inumolen, who continues to present himself as a leader within the party.

Rotimi clarified that Inumolen was formally expelled from ACCORD for a series of anti-party actions, including attempts to assume leadership roles without authority, trying to hijack party structures, forcefully attempting to take over the national secretariat in 2024, and persistently disregarding party procedures.

“Given such a track record, it is laughable that an expelled member still claims authority within the party. Any reports issued from his camp should be disregarded—they do not and will not represent ACCORD,” Hon. Rotimi stated

Similarly, Pastor Victor Akande, Chairman of ACCORD in Osun State, debunked false claims targeting the party’s governorship candidate, Governor Ademola Adeleke. Pastor Akande confirmed that:

Governor Adeleke formally joined ACCORD on 6th November 2025;

He was publicly welcomed into the party on 9th December 2025;

He was confirmed as the valid winner of the ACCORD governorship primary on 10th December 2025, a process conducted under NEC-approved guidelines and monitored by INEC officials.

Pastor Akande challenged rival parties to focus on their achievements instead of spreading misinformation.

“Elections are not won on social media. Those serious about contesting should get out and demonstrate what they have achieved,” he asserted

It will be recalled that during the successful primary held in Osogbo, where Governor Ademola Adeleke emerged as the party’s flagbearer, National Chairman Maxwell Mgbudem presented the party flag to the Governor, stating the party remains united and crisis-free. Adeleke’s triumphant entry into ACCORD, the party leadership said, signals confidence and readiness for the 2026 governorship contest.

Governor Adeleke’s emergence as the Accord Party’s governorship candidate was overwhelmingly endorsed by delegates at the primary, illustrating broad support within the party.
