Mrs Eniola Adedeji and her eight months old son who were kidnapped on Saturday were reportedly released by their abductors on Sunday.
The duo who are the wife and son of a staff member of Osun State Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC), Osogbo, Mr. Isaac Adedeji, were reportedly abducted in the Ota Efun area of Osogbo on Saturday evening by some unknown people, said to be carrying arms. They were on their way to Ayekale area of the state capital.
The kidnappers called the husband, a staff of the state broadcasting station, OSBC, using the wife’s phone.
The husband who confirmed the incident, said he had reported the matter to the security agency the moment he received the call.
He, however, also confirmed that his wife and the baby were released without paying any ransom on Sunday.
According to family sources, they were released at night yesterday evening in Ikirun, Ifelodun local Government area of the state by their abductors.
The victims were said to be coming from the Oke Baale Area of Osogbo, going to Ota Efun on a commercial motorcycle when a vehicle blocked their way, forced them into a bus, and drove them to an unknown destination.
It was learned that after the incident was reported at the state Police Command, the mobile phone of the woman was tracked to Ikirun, another town in the state by the operatives.
“But before the police could move in, the perpetrators had abandoned the victims and fled. But the woman and the son have been reunited with her husband,” a top security source who pleaded anonymity said.
