The abducted Chief Imam of Uso, in the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, Alhaji Ibrahim Oyinlade, has been freed.
He was freed on Sunday evening.
The cleric was kidnapped along the Owo-Akure Expressway on Saturday while he was working on his farm by hoodlums, who invaded the premises.
A family member of the victim disclosed that the abductors demanded N10m ransom for his release. But he did not state whether the ransom was paid before the cleric was released.
According to him: “Though the abductors contacted the family in the morning today (Sunday) and demanded N10m, to God be the glory, he was set free this evening.”
The gunmen had on Saturday kidnapped Oyinlade at Asolo Camp in Uso community in Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, an incident which was confirmed by the state command’s police spokeswoman, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami.
She said, “At about 6 pm today (Saturday), a report was made at Uso Divisional headquarters, that the Chief Iman of USO went to his farm in the morning and did not return, he was later traced to the farm by his people, they saw his phone and his vehicle intact but couldn’t find the man, the DPO and his men with local vigilantes are currently in the bush to trace the whereabouts of the man.”
