Kwara State House of Assembly

● As Police nab five suspects

Cheering news has come for the family of a serving lawmaker in the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon Lawal Ayanshola Soliu, as his abducted wife and two children have now regained their freedom from the kidnappers’ den.

According to competent sources, the victims, Mrs Afusat, Taofeek, and Aliyu, who were abducted on Monday, October 16, 2023, regained their freedom around 8:00 p.m. after the payment of an undisclosed amount as ransom on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

Reports indicated that they were abducted at their Shao residence in Moro Local Government Area of the state around 1:00 O’clock on Monday morning by the armed men who stormed the community wielding AK-47 rifles and shooting sporadically for over an hour before finally breaking into their victims’ residence and thereafter made their escape through the bushes.

However, inside sources hinted that the victims have since reunited with their families, even as the Kwara Police Command’s spokesman, Superintendent of Police (SP) Okasanmi Ajayi, confirmed the incident, saying he would provide further details on the development later.

“For now, we have arrested five suspects over the kidnap and they are currently assisting us with the ongoing investigation. I would not want to speak further on that”, Ajayi said.

It was reliably gathered that unfortunately, this is the second time that Mrs Lawal and one of the lawmaker’s children would be kidnapped by unknown gunmen for ransom in less than a year.
