The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has lamented the occurrence of persistent road accidents in Oyo.
It blamed the causes of accidents on drivers’ failure to follow laws guiding road usage, adding that there should be an attitudinal change and total compliance with rules guiding road usage.
Speaking with journalists in Ibadan following the occurrence of an accident that claimed six lives while many were injured at Oke-Elesin, Amuloko in Ona-ara local government area of Oyo, the Oyo FRSC Sector Commander, Corps Commander Rosemary Alo condoled with families of the deceased, wishing injured ones speedy recovery.
Aside from a recent accident, road accidents a few days ago claimed the lives of passengers along Oyo/Ogbomoso road a few days ago. Also, many lives were lost during an accident that occurred at Agbowo Express, Ojo a few weeks ago.
According to the Oyo FRSC boss, scratches on roads don’t just occur, they are caused by humans, there should be an attitudinal change in how we drive on our roads.
She urged drivers to embrace safety on highways, particularly during this Ember period.
She said an area of focus of FRSC was to reduce road accidents on roads across the nation, particularly in the state.
She however said her men have mapped out strategies for rescue operations to rescue accident victims in the state, particularly during this Ember months.
