There had been various administration in Ekiti State since its inception. Some wrote their names on marble, while some wrote theirs on dust. This has opened room for comparative assessment, as the impacts made in people’s life are determinant for such assessments.
However, the style of practical governance put in place by the present government of Ekiti State headed by His Excellency Abiodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO), of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has surprisingly caught my fancy in an incredible way.
As can be attested to, the Ekiti State government is planned and practised to enhance the never-before quality of people’s life in ways that are monumental, gradually leading the State to an enviable standard.
This status can be achievable through an all-inclusive government, where even commoners can have a say in government’s administration.
BAO, as he is popularly referred to has employed the bottom-up approach in running governmental administration thereby transforming power to the people to determine and prioritise their needs for the government to do their biddings one after the other. No doubt, this is unprecedented in Ekiti State’s successive administrations.
The recorded practical achievements of Governor Oyebanji are there in the 16 local government areas spread across the State for anyone to see. They include among others:
- Payment of WAEC 2024 fees for public secondary school students, about 16,269 students amounting to #546.9 million.
- The State government empowers 74 new support staff with special needs training.
- The State government begins training and empowerment programme for 5000 youths in Enterpreneurship.
- On control of flood, the State government approves #88.3 million for dredging in Ado Ekiti and Ikere.
- Construction work commences on New Ado Ekiti Flyover.
- Disbursements of grants to the masses amounting to #400 million.
- House loans for TSC staff was approved. About #140million.
- 30 utility vehicles were purchased by the government to tackle insecurity in the State.
- The renewal Urban project for the proposed Atikankan/Igbeyin gulped #300million from the State government.
- Facilitationfor employment of 20,000 job seekers.
And several others.
From all these goodies, the unprecedented strategies mapped out to develop the agricultural sector, some of which are already yielding dividends are enough to put the State on a strong economic map in the near future.
With all these life-enhancing packages in Ekiti State, we no doubt need a continuous practical administration to flourish unabated in the State.
