Adeleke appoints ex-AIG Wale Omoyele chairman Amotekun Corps

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has appointed a retired Assistant Inspector General of Police, Wale Abbas. as the new Chairman for the Amotekun Corps.
 A statement by the Governor’s spokesperson, Olawape Rasheed said Abbas replaced General Bashir Adewinbi (Rtd) whose tenure lapsed month.
Also, he appointed a new Corps Commander for the Corps. He is the Special Adviser to the Governor on Internal Security, Hon Isaac Adekunle Omoyele, a retired Chief Superintendent of Police, and a former Chief Security Officer to Governor Adeleke.
Retired AIG Abass holds a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Political science from the University of Lagos and a Master’s degree in International Law and diplomacy from the same university.
He was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force on 3rd March 1990 in the Course 16 cadet ASP and trained in the elite police academy, Kaduna.
He has served in various capacities in the Nigeria Police Force. These include Unit Commander 16 Squadron (PMF), where he rose to become the squadron; ‘s Commander. He also served as Area Commander Mubi, Adamawa State; Area Commander Railway, Lagos State Railway Command; Assistant Commissioner of Police State CID Delta State; and Area Commander ‘C’ Surulere, Lagos State.
Others are DCP Operations Yobe State; DCP, SCID Asaba, Delta State; DCP Ogun State, and DCP SCID, Oyo State Command.
He was promoted to the Commissioner of Police and posted to Benue State Command in 2022 where he served for one year and four months before his deployment to Delta State as the 21st Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command. He was later promoted Assistant Inspector General of Police before he retired from service.
A retired Army Captain, Benedict Olusoji Akanni remains the  Field Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps.
The appointments, which have been conveyed by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon Teslim Igbalaye and dated July 3rd, took an immediate effect.
