Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has admonished civil servants in the state to make love the centre point of their day-to-day dealings with one another at work and outside workplaces.
He spoke through the Head of Service, Mr. Samuel Ayanleye Aina during the occasion of the 2024 St. Valentine Day organized by the Nigeria Civil Service Union/ Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Osun State chapter.
He said it was a day of love and merry-making as civil servants drawn from various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies of Government in the state closed ranks to rejoice and identify with one another for several hours at the event which took place at the Parking lot of the Governor’s office, State Secretariat.
Adeleke appreciated the love and support of the workforce since he got elected to manage the affairs of the state as its governor.
He, however, emphasized the need for workers and society at large to always overlook mistakes, forgive wrongs, and embrace united living. He added that, in an era of economic emergency, love is the recipe and solution to personal and societal problems.
Earlier in his address, the NLC Chairman in the state, Comrade Christopher Arapasopo, appreciated the Governor for the approval of welfare packages for active and retired workers at both state and local government levels.
Arapasopo recalled with happiness that, in less than two years in office, Governor Adeleke attended to almost all workers’ requests.
Against this backdrop, he described Adeleke as indeed the father of love.
Speaking in the same vein, the Osun state Chairman of the Trade Union Congress, Comrade Abimbola Fasasi applauded Governor Adeleke for making the love and welfare of workers very paramount.
A series of attractive features to mark love and oneness heralded the love feasts where winners in competitions such as Table Tennis, Draft amongst others
Gifts were presented to the best-dressed workers, and others who took part in other dancing activities.
