Buhari, security chiefs meet in Abuja

President Muhammadu Buhari is currently meeting behind closed-doors with Service Chiefs and other heads of security agencies at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting started about 11am and its agenda as usual was not made public. But it was learnt that discussions would likely dwell on the security situation in the country and how to ensure maximum security during next Saturday’s governorship and State Houses of Assembly elections across the country.

All the Service Chiefs: Chief of Defence Staff, General Gabriel Olonishakin; Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Yusuf Buratai; Chief of Naval Staff, Ibok-Ete IIbas; and Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadiq Abubakar, were present.

Also present at the meeting were the National Security Adviser, Major Gen. Babagana Monguno; Director of National Intelligence Agency; the Director General, Department of Security Service; and Acting Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu.

The Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahman Danbazzau and the Minister of Defence, Brigadier Gen. Mansur Dan-Ali were also part of the meeting.
