Operatives of Osun State Amotekun Corps have arrested a -25 year- old man for allegedly attempting to kidnap a tenneger after luring her with N50 in Osogbo, the state capital.
The suspect was arrested by the operatives who acted on a tip-off.
Reports said the suspect was trying to kidnap the young girl around Obanisola Street, Powerline area by giving the young girl a N50 note.
It was gathered that the girl raised an alarm which attracted the attention of her mother, and the suspect fled the scene before luck ran against him and he was subsequently arrested.
Confirming the arrest to newsmen in Osogbo, the Corps Commander of Osun Amotekun Corps, Brig. Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi, retd, said the operatives arrested the culprit in Osogbo when trying to kidnap a young girl around the Obanisola So, Powerline area, Osogbo.
He said the young girl raised an alarm which attracted the mother of the girl and the neighbors who reportedly lodged a complaint in their office.
Upon receiving the complaints “Our men at Olorunda Command were drafted to the scene and immediately arrested the suspect.”
During cross-examination, “the felon confessed to perpetrating the act and he was an ex-convict jailed for armed robbery,” Adewinmbi said.
The suspect has been handed over to the police for subsequent interrogation and prosecution.
He appealed to the general public to always give out useful information that will help checkmate crime and criminality happening in the State.
