Ekiti guber: ADP picks Adewale flagbearer

The Action Democratic Party, ADP, Ekiti state chapter, has conducted its primary in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, in a peaceful and carnival–like atmosphere, producing Otunba Segun Adewale as the flag bearer of the party in the July 14 governorship election.

Adewale, who polled 16,890 votes out of 17,600 votes cast at the poll, leaving 710 votes void across the whole sixteen (16) local government areas of the state,was the sole candidate of the party in the election.

The election, supervised and witnessed by the natioal officers of the party and state oficials, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials led by Hajia Maryam Lawal ,security agencies and other relevant stakeholders, was conducted according to the electoral Law of the country and in conformity with the party\’s guidelines in a peacefully manner.

In his words at the occasion, the chairman of the committee, who is also the Vice Chairman of the party in the North west, Alhaji Umar Hassan, appreciates the peaceful manner of the people before and during the election. He asked them to replicate such at the general election for victory of the party in the coming governorship election in the state.

Adewale, commenting on his victory, unveiled his seven points agenda for the development of Ekiti state, noting that prompt payment of workers salaries and entitlement of pensioners is paramount to him,whi while their welfare will always come first and payment of their arrears.

According to him, issue of adequate and steady power supply to Ekiti will be given priority, as means of creating good business environment and investors friendly state. He said that dead industries in the state like Ade-Ekiti Textile Mills, Ire-Ekiti Burnt Bricks, and Igbemo -Ekiti Rice Mills amongst others shall be revived to create employment and boost the state economy.

Adewale posited further that the health sector in the state is already comatose promising upgrading and building more health facilities across the state to improve the health standard of the people. He said that creation of viable vocational centres across the sixteen local government areas of the state will cater for the teeming youths and women, with soft laons to take off and guarantee them a better future.

The ADP flagbearer added that repositioning the educational sector in the state will not be undermined, as the state is noted to be a fountain of knowledge, so the sector will be highly equipped and put in proper shape with affordable cost to all.

The election had in attendance national officers like Alhaji Umar Hassan, VC North West zone; Mrs Adenike Jones, Committee secretary; Barr. Aladetoyinbo, national publicity secretary; Dr. Lyn Olisa; Babatunde Gbadamosi ,Lagos State; Prince Edobor Oghosa, national youth leader amongst others.

Adewale who appreciated the delegates for their trust in him urged Ekiti people to have a rethink by voting massively for his party, ADP in the coming governorship election in the state in order to correct the past annomalies and bring the state out of shackles of under-development.
