Adeleke succors rainstorm victims

Touched by the plight of the helpless victims who were rendered homeless by a rainstorm, which destroyed their house, Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has moved to resettle the victims.

A heavy rainfall which was accompanied by a rainstorm, last Saturday, uprooted a big tree that fell on and destroyed a building at 4, Oluobinu Street in Oluobinu Compound, Ede, and destroyed the property of the sacked victims.

The Governor has raised a combined delegation of the Ministry of Works and Transport led by the Coordinating Director, Engr. Olusola Ajao; and Osun State Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA) led by its General Manager, Mr Amos Adejinle.

Already, the delegation, which also included the Director of Highways at the Ministry of Works, Engr. Basiru Bello visited the scene to ascertain the level of destruction and to ensure that no life was lost.

Narrating their ordeal, the occupants of the 12-room building, counted themselves lucky that the incident happened during the day, otherwise, it would have been a different story.

They appreciated the state government for showing empathy for their situation through the visit of a state delegation to the scene to ascertain the level of destruction.

A 90-year-old Alhaji Saka Oluobinu who is the family head was full of gratitude to the Lord that the incident claimed no life, though he regretted that the incident has rendered him and the other victims homeless and with no property to lay claim to.

Another occupant of the building, Mrs. Ojerinde Oluranti thanked the state government for quickly coming to their aid as they no longer have a place to lay their heads.

Speaking on behalf of the State government, the General Manager of Osun State Emergency Management Agency (OSEMA), Mr. Amos Adejinle, promised that the agency would swing into action immediately to make things okay for the victims.

Also speaking, the Coordinating Director, Ministry of Works and Transport, Engr. Olusola Ajao said Governor Adeleke will leave no stone unturned to ensure that the victims are quickly resettled.

In his own reaction, the Director of Highways at the Ministry of Works and Transport, Engr. Basiru Bello assured the victims that the government is swinging into action immediately to make life comfortable for them.
