How we harm ourselves

Streams

By Banji Ayoola

Each human being is a spiritual spark, a unique unit of energy sent down for a purpose to this earth from his home, the spiritual realm.

He is meant to sparkle, to glow, to shine, to radiate brilliantly round the clock here on earth. He is already fully equipped with everything he needs to stand and work independently here on earth as a full human being.

As a unit in whom is entrusted a spark of the Light, or as a unit, a being bearing the spiritual spark within, he has as his utmost responsibility the task always to be alert; to watch and pray so as to ensure that he maintains his connection with the Luminous Heights round the clock; such that he is open always to the Holy streams of power flowing consistently from There for his existence and earthly application, to ennoble and rebuild the earth into a new realm flourishing in peace and harmony always.

It is also his duty to keep away from anything likely to soil, hamper or derail him; to protect the spiritual spark in him which is meant to work helpfully here on earth, from anything likely to dim or darken it, likely to envelope or overburden it with filth or dross, to eclipse or extinguish it altogether.

And what are these enemies of the naturally pure and radiant spiritual spark that the earthly man must avoid like plagues. First and foremost, they are in thoughts, brought to life, nurtured and sustained by the individual bearer of this radiant spiritual spark himself against himself.

This human spiritual spark, naturally pure, glowing and radiant, courts dangers by entertaining any impure thoughts such as envy, hate, or anger against another man or woman, against his neighbours; harbouring any lust or any of the desires which the Ten Commandments and the Natural Laws warn against. Which are all wrong.

Harbouring any of these wrongs is as harmful as going ahead to execute any of them in words or deeds. Automatically the culprit is subject to the compulsory inexorable and irrevocable outworking of the Laws until he fully atones for any infraction of the Commandments and the Laws, for any injustice or imbalance he may have caused.

Thus a human being who harbours any of these desires which are all wrong, tortures and torments himself unnecessarily. He thereby weaves a strange, dark cloak for himself which dims, darkens and soils the naturally pure radiant spiritual spark within him or bury it altogether.

He thereby becomes heavier, dense, adding unnecessary weight which naturally drags him down, and pulls him away from the Light. He falls and sinks.

To recover himself from the depth into which he has thrown himself, regain his balance and strong connection with the Holy streams of Light, requires a laborious work on himself through the personal recognition of his pitiable condition, unrelenting genuine wish to get out of this loathsome swamp, thinking and doing good, diligent work on himself by voluntarily digging himself more seriously into the Word of the Lord backed by earnest heartfelt prayer for help.

Through this, the luminous rays will mercifully gradually stream in to permeate and suffuse him once again, and thereby revive, recover him from the depth and possible spiritual death.

So, like the prodigal child, he is back once again in the radiant Home of his Father where he has everything in great abundance.

Other ways by which we expose the spiritual spark in us to danger include through laziness or spiritual indolence; through being unnecessarily accommodating, friendly, too trusting, reposing trust and confidence where they should not be; through being indiscriminate in relationship will all human beings out of false consideration or lazy belief that everyone who approaches has good volition and as such is honourable and trustworthy. These amount to letting down the guard.

They include through intimate social intercourse, interaction or relationship with the other human beings who may even seemingly be adherents of the same teaching seemingly following the same path upwards as the basis of existence.

We harm ourselves by failing to erect necessary boundaries between us and other human beings as demanded by our nature as fully inwardly equipped independent human beings who, individually are here to independently vigilantly seek and recognise the Holy Will of our Creator, to mature in living and working in accordance with Its loving guidance, and genuinely serving our neighbours and the Lord independently with our unique gifts bestowed on us individually by the everlasting Wisdom of the Creator and the Most High.

Necessary boundaries which we fence off with a watchtower from which we keep vigil, from which we subject everything, every impression that approaches to a keen and careful scrutiny before deciding to entertain it or otherwise, or distance ourselves from it, or shut it away altogether.

We should remember that majority of the almost eight billion human beings on earth today are not supposed to be here, and are meant to be maturing elsewhere in accordance with the Laws. But these are scattered everywhere. They populate everywhere on earth and even infiltrate and overburden what is meant to be dedicated to a strictly beyond the earth purpose.

We must be vigilant all through our wanderings on earth.

The truth is that it is not all who appear in brightest colours, speak most glowingly of their ‘conviction’ in the the Light and readiness to serve It, who parade and advertise themselves as servants of the Lord, who may even be holding sensitive positions of grave spiritual responsibilities, are His true seekers and servants.

Many there are who do not truly live what they profess nor profess what they truly are; who hide behind their feverish, false activities to deceive the unwary and push themselves to prominence; whose carefully hidden personal agenda may not be helpful or harmonious, may indeed be harmful to themselves, to others and also to the Cause.
