A former presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Dr Nwachukwu Anakwenze, has called for the inclusion of all former presidential aspirants of the party as members of the PDP National Presidential Campaign Council.
In a statement on Wednesday by his Director General, who was the Director General, Anakwenze Campaign Organisation, ACO, Comrade Eric Oluwole, Anakwenze said that their inclusion as members of the central campaign team “would unite the former presidential aspirants behind the PDP Candidate in the February 25, 2023, Presidential Election, His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.”
He said that this move would encourage the former presidential aspirants to willingly make available their political structures nationwide for use by the National Campaign Council, as the campaign train moves around the country to mobilise the entire Nigerians behind the PDP Presidential Candidate and help to ensure that the party wins the Election resoundingly.
Anakwenze applauded the ongoing meeting of Presidential Aspirants and the PDP Party Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar as a bold move to unite the ex-aspirants behind the PDP Presidential Candidate as he leads the party to the coming battle to win the Election.
To him, uniting ex-presidential aspirants of the party behind Atiku will help greatly in resolving the lingering internal crisis in the party following tits Presidential Primary and the picking of Delta State Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as the running mate to the Presidential Candidate, which displeased River State Governor Nyesom Wike, who had scored the second highest number of delegates’ votes at the primary.
According to the statement: “He said there is a need to rally all the major groups within the party into a united force behind its Presidential Flagbearer as he moves into the battle few months away to win. Notably, along this line, our Party’s Presidential Candidate, His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has met with the party’s former Governorship aspirants and former principal officers of the House of Representatives.
“Stressing the need for all former Presidential aspirants to avail the PDP Presidential Campaign Team of their individual structures nationwide, experiences and ideas, he said with this step, together with other strategic moves in the party’s ovearall winning plan, the PDP is certainly on the road to a resounding Victory in the Presidential Election.
“Anakwenze said the unity of the Party’s former presidential aspirants behind Atiku is highly needed to enable the PDP go into the coming Presidential Election as a formidable force to win and form the next Federal Government, which will implement its well designed and well packaged people oriented programmes meant to salvage Nigeria our dear Country from the precipice towards which she is being led by the maladministration of the ruling party at the federal level.
“Anakwenze said that a united PDP is needed especially now in the overall interest of the party and our Country Nigeria which is in dire need of a rescue operation from the worsening chaos and confusion, characterised by unprecendeted insecurity; falling Naira with its attendant ugly consequences on the economy; crashing education system aggravated by endless strike by University teachers and other staff over poor funding; among other frightening socioeconomic crises ravaging our dear Motherland.”
