Posters of Nigeria’s former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan were seen in some part of Lagos State and FCT, Abuja at early hours of Friday 21st of January, 2022.

They were posted courtesy of “Greater Nigeria Ambassador GRENA),” with the inscription “Pls run, Nigerians are calling again.”

The posters calling on him to run again for the seat of the President come 2023, were seen on the busy Ijaiye road, Ogba and around the every busy Ikeja, on Oba Akran avenue, under the bridge and on the road connecting the Murtala Mohammed Airport Road by airport bus stop, Ikeja and also in AYA , Asokoro and Finance bridge, around the Federal Secretariat , FCT Abuja.

With this, the sponsors have now joined some number of persons and groups calling on the former President to run for President come 2023 general elections and they are the first group to post Goodluck’s posters in Lagos and Abuja.

Also in Abuja, posters of the former President calling on him to contest the forthcoming presidential election, were seen at the national secretariat of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The posters with his big picture in his South-South attire and a bowler-hat with the inscription”Goodluck Jonathan You Must Run” are occupying a conspicuous position on the wall of the party secretariat.

They were also displayed on the fence of many buildings, especially the uncompleted ones along Blantyre Street where the APC secretariat is located.

Though nobody was able to ascertain those that posted the posters, it waas gathered that some young boys were seen doing so.

The Governor Mai Mala Buni-led Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) with some APC Governors paid a courtesy visit to the former President, fueling suspicion of moves to woo Jonathan to the party.

The caretaker committee was alleged to have mooted the idea of dragging the former President to contest the 2023 presidential election on the platform of the party.

But the defunct CECPC refuted the allegation with Buni explaining CECPC only visited Jonathan as an elder statesman.

The posters were displayed amid insinuation that the former President, whose re-election failed in 2015, was being programmed for a comeback by some northern elements.

Since he would be eligible to run for one more term, the aim is believed to be a smart way to ensure that power returns to the North after his second tenure.

The incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari, a northerner, is finishing his maximum two terms in 2023 and the development has sparked a controversy on power shift to the South.

The Jonathan return to power, according to those behind the scheme, is to hasten the North’s claim to the presidency in 2027 as against a situation whereby a fresh southern President will be eligible for eight years and delay the region’s ascendancy to power till 2031.

Notably, President Buhari took over from Jonathan, who was in power on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, following vicious, vigorous and intensive and extensive campaigns of ineptitude against the Jonathan administration, waged by the APC
