Nigeria’s acclaimed Premier University, the University of Ibadan, has honoured a foremost Professor of Agricultural Economics and Vice Chancellor of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Ondo State, Prof Igbekele Amos Ajibefun, with Lifetime Achievement Award.
The historic event, which held at the Trenchard Hall of the prestigious institution, was part of the week-long Convocation and 70th anniversary of the University.
Professor Ajibefun was honoured with the distinguished award on Friday last week at a ceremony tagged, “Lifetime Achievement Awards/Night of Honour” alongside other eminent Nigerians, including a former Chairman of Punch Nigeria Limited and Chairman of Continental Re-Insurance Plc, Chief Ajibola Ogunshola, his wife, Iyabo, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of First Bank of Nigeria and some eminent Professors.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Prof. Abel Olayinka, said the awardees were carefully chosen based on their indelible marks on the sand of time and more importantly, their contributions to nation building and humanity in general.
Ajibefun had earlier in 2017 received the Distinguished Alumni Award of the University of Ibadan.
The programme was chaired by Chief Subomi Balogun, who was represented by his son, Ladi, the Chief Executive Officer of the FCMB.
