Former counsel to alleged kidnap kingpin and billionaire kidnapper, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike, aka Evans, Olukoya Ogungbeje was on Wednesday arrested within the premises of the Federal High Court Ikoyi by policemen from the Panti Division of Lagos State.
He was arrested as he stepped out of his car.
It was gathered that the officers from the State Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, accosted Ogungbeje as he parked his car at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi.
Ogungbeje who was lead counsel to Evans in June, withdrew himself from all the criminal charges/cases against the defendant pending in the Lagos High Courts.
He said that his withdrawal from all the Criminal charges/cases against his client was for personal reasons.
He had claimed that his life and that of the defence lawyers have repeatedly been threatened.
The police are yet to make a formal statement about the case. But a source within Ogungbeje’s camp claimed that he was arrested because he got a judgement against the Nigeria Police.
