The International Press Centre, IPC, has appointed a former Assistant News Editor with The Hope, Mr Moses Ojo and five others across the country as its monitors to oversee and document attacks on journalists all over Nigeria.
Their appointment lasts for three years during which they would monitor and document attacks on journalists across the six geo-political zones of the country for prompt action by the world body and record purposes. Each of them is assigned a zone to cover.
A statement by IPC said that the project seeks to expand the frontiers of safety of Journalists and press freedom in the country.
According to the statement, the six field monitors have been invited to a two-day training in Lagos sequel to the commencement of the project.
The Hope is published by Owena Press Limited, a media outfit owned by the Ondo State Government.
