Sunday Igboho visits Ogun, asks killer-herders to vacate South-West

Ogun State

Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo (a.k.a. Sunday Igboho), yesterday, stormed Ogun State, insisting that killer-herdsmen must vacate Yorubaland.

He, alongside his supporters, arrived in Abeokuta, the state capital and immediately proceeded to some troubled areas in Yewaland in Ogun West Senatorial District.

His visit was in continuation of his campaign against the marauding herdsmen in the South-West.

Igboho was in the news recently for giving an ultimatum to herdsmen in the Ibarapa area of Oyo State to vacate the area and upon the expiration of the ultimatum, the home of the Seriki Fulani in the area was attacked.

Consequently, the Seriki Fulani, fled the area for Kwara State with his family.

The incident had displaced some Fulani herdsmen in Igangan, Oyo State, a development, which had attracted knocks and kudos nationwide.

Igboho, who stopped in Abeokuta around 4pm to interact with some of his supporters, moved on to Ketuland where it was reported that some soldiers allegedly connived with herdsmen to flog farmers for not permitting them to graze their cattle in Yewa-North Local Government Area.

Speaking with journalists, he insisted that Fulani herdsmen who engage in killing and kidnapping must vacate the region for peace to reign.

He said: “We observe there is an injustice from the herdsmen because they are close to the Federal Government. Any Fulani herdsman who engages in kidnapping should be flushed out.

“Not only Igangan, but we are also going to visit all Yorubaland. I am going to Yewa because that is where the Fulani are wreaking havoc.

“Let us thank the governor of the state. His love for people of Ogun State made him allowed us to visit the state. If not for his love for the people of Ogun State, he would not have allowed us to come to the state.”

Igboho’s visit to the state is coming days after he declared that Ogun State would be his next state of action.

“We are here in solidarity with our brothers and sisters. Fulani herders are killing us in various South-west states, and that’s why we, the youths, came out to demand our rights,” he said.

“That is why I am saying all Fulani herdsmen should vacate Yoruba land. There is peace now in Igangan and that’s not the only place I want peace to reign. We are going to all Yoruba land. I appreciate Ogun governor, he loves his people and that’s why we are in Ogun State today.

“We are going to Yewa now where Fulani kidnappers are terrorising Yorubas in Ogun State,” he said in the short clip.

Igboho thanked Governor Dapo Abiodun for allowing him in the state. He also appreciated Yoruba indigenes for supporting him.
