There’s a striking contradiction in how we perceive our shortcomings and those of other people.
The contradiction betrays a lack of depth, objectivity, and fairness. We are often quiet about our shortcomings, we gloss over them and we are highly tolerant.
“Nobody is perfect” is a phrase we often reach for, to excuse ourselves…but we easily get excited when it comes to other people’s and are ready to demonize them. And broadcast their failings, while pretending we are saints.
“Nobody is perfect” is a phrase we hardly apply to others.
If we could extend the same level of tolerance, we’d start experiencing so much joy.
There’d be more peace, joy, and harmony in the world if we imbibe the spirit of tolerance and understanding, which would easily trigger forgiveness.
We must be deliberate about cultivating HARMONY in all our relationships. Without it, we are all poor, hypocritical, harrassed souls, because then peace flees from us.
Love is the panacea.
And, love requires the capacity to truly understand, tolerate, and forgive.
