Activities at the Ondo state command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) was temporarily grounded today when news filtered in that the sector commander, Vincent Jack has died.
The late Sector Commander had been in and out of hospital in recent times over an undisclosed ailment.
He was reported to have had a thanksgiving service recently after his recuperation from the undisclosed ailment.
As soon as the news filtered news, the officers on the road returned to the office while calls kept coming from outside to confirm the commander’s death.
A visit to the command’s headquarters in Akure about 3pm however shows that activities have resumed, though on a low ebb.
An emergency management meeting was held just as a condolence register was opened for the late commander which has been signed by many officers as well as visitors at the time of visit.
The Head of Operations, Adekoya Igedegbe who is believed to have assumed leadership of the command in acting capacity however refused to talk to www.orangefm.com.ng on the incident.
While showing the reporter the condolence register outside the office, he said ” There is nothing to talk about, as you can see, he is dead. The condolence register says it all. There is nothing to confirm again. If you have any questions, talk to the PRO ” Igedegbe retreated to his office.
The spokesperson, Antonia Oni was also not ready to provide any information on the incident.
She simply walked back into her office and kept the reporter waiting endlessly.
The late Commander was reported to have died early today in Lagos.
