A governorship aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ondo State, Prince John Ola Mafo, has felicitated with Muslims in the state, Nigeria and the world at large as they celebrate the Eid-al-Fitr, marking the end of the Ramadan.
He hoped that the blessings of the Ramadan would radiate worldwide to positively transform the present gloom in his message which he titled “Special Ramadan Message to all my Friends and Islamic Faithful Worldwide!”
Mafo, a former Commissioner for Information in the Olusegun Agagu administration in the state, said that the Muslim faithful deserve the traditional celebration of Eid-al-Fitr after a month-long period of abstinence, perseverance and self-denial.
According to him: “Today, May 24, 2020, is a special day to all Muslims globally at home and abroad! As this year’s edition of the festival acquired a low-key approach across the universe, the major themes of Ramadan which include : self-discipline, self-control, sacrifice, empathy for the less fortunate and compulsory charity(Zakat), become more relevant and compelling more than ever before!
In spite of Covid-19 and the attendant knockdown, our Muslim brothers and sisters deserve the traditional celebration of Eid-al-Fitr after a month-long period of abstinence, perseverance and self-denial, just as we are obliged to rejoice with them as friends, well-wishers, relations and compatriots.
As the world looks forward to a new order of progress and economic revival post-Coronavirus,subject to the appropriate and best handling of present challenges, it is expected that the culture of Ramadan as an embodiment of reflection, revelation, revolution and restoration will act as catalyst and fillip for the needed positive outcome of the present gloomy era!
All said and done, as the celebrations peak today amidst caution and wise counsel, it is most appropriate and apposite to say: Eid Mubarak!
Ramadan Kareem! Ramadan Mubarak!”
