Colleagues appeal for release of abducted Ondo professor

Colleagues of abducted professor at the Ondo State University of Science and Technology, Okitipupa, Prof Gideon Okedoye, have appealed to government and police authorities to fast track action and ensure an unconditional release of the don.

A statement by the institution’s Joint Action Committee, JAC, aasigned by Comrade Dayo Temola said: “With utmost shock and disbelief we received the news of reported kidnapping of Professor Gideon Okedayo of the department of Mathematical Science, Osustech, Okitipupa.

Professor Gideon Okedayo is a thorough bred academic who has and still contributing to growth of education in Nigerian and beyond.

We therefore think that in all honesty, that he deserves no place in this heinous act of man’s inhumanity to man.

We hereby call on Government and relevant security agencies to fast track his unconditional release.

We further add that the security agencies on our roads should be proactive and go beyond routine check and wrangling of innocent citizens but rather become a terror to this ravaging men of underworld.”

Okedayo of the department of Mathematical Science, Ondo state University of Science and Technology, OSUSTECH, was seized by unknown gunmen along Auchi road in Edo state on Thursday morning.
