Former Speakers and leaders of the Ondo State House of Assembly have urged political leaders and the younger generation to uphold the legacy of integrity, discipline, selflessness and principled leadership left behind by the late Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti.
They made the call during a condolence visit to the family of the late elder statesman at his Omolere residence in Akure on Monday.
The former presiding officers described Pa Fasoranti’s life as an enduring example of exemplary leadership, noting that his contributions to political development, governance and nation-building should continue to inspire generations.
The delegation comprised Rt. Hon. Ayo Agbomuserin, Rt. Hon. Kenneth S. Olawale, Rt. Hon. (Revd.) Samuel Aderoboye, JP, Rt. Hon. (Prophet) Bamidele Oleyeloogun and Rt. Hon. Malachi Corker.
According to them, the late Afenifere leader laid a solid foundation for political maturity, which would continue to serve as a guiding principle for politicians and community leaders.
While acknowledging that Pa Fasoranti lived a fulfilled life, they pledged to sustain his ideals and build on the values he stood for.
The former lawmakers also urged the family, particularly the Secretary to the Ondo State Government, Dr Taiwo Fasoranti, to sustain the late patriarch’s legacy.
They assured the family that the legislative arm of government would continue to play its role in promoting good governance and development in the state.
Responding, Dr Taiwo Fasoranti said the outpouring of tributes and commendations from people across the country and beyond since his father’s death had been a source of encouragement to the family.
He said the tributes had inspired them to celebrate rather than merely mourn a man whose impactful life and contributions would continue to inspire serving and upcoming generations of political leaders.
Dr Fasoranti commended Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for constituting a committee to ensure that his late father receives a befitting burial.
