What the Lord hath joined together is a union where the conditions for harmony, happiness, and peace exist.
It is where two human beings, male and female, come together to tackle a joint task.
To work together toward a common high aim.
They both complement one another in their abilities.
It is where both partners voluntarily and joyfully serve one another selflessly.
Where, shoulder to shoulder, they both, smilingly, confront and overcome all earthly trials.
No third party must disturb this
harmonious union.
Any attempt by a third party to disturb this union is a sin.
It violates the Commandment: “Thou shalt not commit adultery!”
On the other hand, what the Lord hath not joined together is already asunder from the beginning.
An example of this is a union where the requirements for a true marriage are absent.
It is not made in Heaven.
It has no spiritual foundation.
From the start of this man-made union, the two human beings, male and female, are already separated in their inner lives, volition, aspirations, and thus goals or aims.
They live with separate goals.
They do not unite to face a common task and the same direction inwardly and outwardly; they cast their gaze in different directions, toward different goals.
Goals that are parallel, antagonistic, and irreconcilable.
Thus, right from the beginning of such a union, the husband and wife are separated.
This is the marriage that exists mainly on earth today, and is collapsing.
