The All Progressives Congress in Ondo State has directed its leaders and members across the state to intensify grassroots mobilisation for the collection of Permanent Voter Cards ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The state APC Chairman, Hon. Kolawole Babatunde, gave the directive ahead of ward and unit meetings scheduled to commence on Friday, October 23, 2026, across the party’s 203 wards in the state.
Babatunde said the meetings would serve as platforms for strengthening the party’s grassroots structures, engaging members and sensitising eligible voters on the need to collect their PVCs before the expiration of the collection deadline.
He stressed that the meetings were central to the party’s preparations for the 2027 elections, noting that electoral success depended largely on effective organisation and mobilisation at the ward and polling-unit levels.
According to him, achieving the one million-vote target set by the state party leader and Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, would require deliberate planning, coordination and active participation by party members across the state.
“The strength of any serious political party lies in its wards and polling units. Politics is local, and elections are won through effective grassroots mobilisation,” Babatunde said.
He added that the ward and unit meetings would provide an opportunity for party leaders to take the PVC sensitisation campaign directly to their communities and encourage eligible voters to participate in the electoral process.
The APC chairman urged ward chairmen, unit leaders, party executives and other stakeholders to make PVC collection awareness a major item on the agenda of their meetings and subsequent community engagements.
He also called on members across the state’s 18 local government areas to approach the exercise with unity and commitment, reaffirming the party’s determination to strengthen its grassroots presence and prepare for the 2027 general elections.
The statement was signed by Olawale Ijanusi, popularly known as Optimum, Special Assistant on New Media to the state APC chairman.
