The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced plans to inaugurate a presidential campaign committee to coordinate efforts towards the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The state chairman of the party, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, disclosed this at a stakeholders’ meeting held at the APC state secretariat in Osogbo on Monday, where he called on party members and supporters to unite behind the re-election project.
Lawal said the party had perfected plans for an effective and inclusive campaign structure, adding that critical stakeholders had resolved to work collectively through a centralised presidential campaign committee to be inaugurated soon.
He stressed that the party could not afford to approach the forthcoming presidential election with levity, noting that a coordinated campaign under the party’s leadership would enhance its chances of success.
According to him, the APC State Working Committee would collaborate with Agba Osun, the party’s highest ruling body in the state, to achieve the common objective of securing Tinubu’s re-election.
The chairman urged individuals and groups interested in supporting the President’s second-term bid to work with the party’s state leadership, warning against parallel campaign structures that could undermine the planned coordinated efforts.
Lawal also appealed to party stakeholders, members and supporters to put behind them the outcome of the August 15 governorship election in Osun and redirect their energy towards the 2027 presidential election.
He expressed appreciation to APC stakeholders for their contributions to the party’s performance in the last governorship election, particularly the 444,815 votes secured by its candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, popularly known as AMBO.
The APC chairman, however, cautioned members allegedly working against the party’s interests to desist from such actions, warning that continued disloyalty could have serious consequences.
At the meeting, several stakeholders took turns to appeal to party members and supporters to intensify efforts towards Tinubu’s re-election, emphasising the need for unity and commitment ahead of the 2027 general elections.
They also underscored the importance of working towards the election of APC candidates into the National Assembly and state Houses of Assembly, describing the victories as necessary for sustaining the party’s political strength.
The meeting was attended by members of the State Working Committee, local government party chairmen, council chairmen, ward chairmen, former members of the National and State Houses of Assembly, candidates for legislative seats, former political appointees and other party stakeholders.
