*Please note and understand this pivotal principle of life :*
*The devil never negotiates with you when you are up and running in prayers, in fasting, in exercising your faith through self-assuredness in the Lord.*
*The devil waits until a man is in a state of faintness to deploy its arsenal against targets :*
*1) Faint from waiting for a life partner.*
*2) Faint from waiting for the fruit of the womb.*
*3) Faint from hunting for the ever elusive job in the labour market.*
*4) Faint from mounting bills by the day.*
*5) Faint from delays and disappointments.*
*6) Faint from bitterness and hurts.*
*During a man’s period of faintness, anything looks reasonable, just anything – can you imagine a plate of pottage looking more valuable than a birthright?*
*In essence, this is a warning to you : during your period of fainting, all manners of suggestions will come to you. Therefore be careful at moments like this.*
*Know that when you are desperate, people will take advantage of you. Esau said to his brother – “Feed me,” but Jacob replied with “Sell me your….”*
*Esau wanted food. Jacob wanted birthright – he had been eyeing this since they were in the womb of their mother (Gen 25:22.*
*It is a strange negotiation when your stomach negotiates with your destiny away. Have you not seen men who negotiated away their honour and high office on the account of 5 minutes sexual pleasure? (Prov 6:26)*
*Please be conscious of the price people place on your head – men can really go low in placing a price on the head of others :*
*1) A future ruler of the greatest nation on earth at the time – was sold for 20 pieces of silver(Gen. 37:28).*
*3) The greatest man that ever lived was betrayed and sold out for 30 pieces of silver (Matt. 26:15).*
*It should therefore not surprise anyone that a whole birthright was sold for JUST a paltry plate of pottage.*
*Birthright in Israel was not just seniority. It carried three critical connotations and values :*
*1) Spiritual Priesthood : The firstborn was the priest of the family before the Law of Moses. He offered sacrifice. Whoever has birthright has access to God.*
*2) Double Portion Inheritance : Deut 21:17 – the firstborn gets double of what others get.*
*3) Covenant Line: From Abraham to Isaac, the birthright carried the promise — “In thee shall all families of the earth be blessed” (Gen. 12:3). Even the Messiah would come through the birthright line.*
*So Esau’s birthright was worth — Priesthood, Double wealth, and Christ – all of these he lost.*
*And Jacob says — Sell it for beans – how can a man sell priesthood for pottage? How can a man sell Christ for food? How can a man sell double inheritance for lentils?*
*That is why the Bible calls Esau a profane person – Heb 12:16 — “Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of meat sold his birthright”.*
*Please don’t allow your present needs to exaggerate itself over your judgement. This is pure debunchery – “I am at the point to die.” Try and relax, none of your present needs will put you to death – not your hunger. Not your lack. Know that when flesh is in control, small hunger becomes “I will die.”*
*You will come under pressure to devalue things of eternal value: “What profit shall this birthright do to me?” He could not see profit in spiritual things. He was asking – Can birthright fill my belly now?*
*This is the language of carnal Christians today :*
*1) What profit is holiness in the face of mounting bills I need to pay?*
*2) What profit is waiting for marriage when my days are going before my eyes?*
*3) What profit is paying this whole money for tithing?*
*People ask – What can God do for me NOW? If it doesn’t give immediate bread, it has no profit – DON’T THINK LIKE THIS PLEASE.*
*Esau despised what he could not eat immediately. Many despise church, prayer, purity because it is not giving them instant cash or gains.*
*To be concluded tomorrow, God willing.*
Top of the day to you 👍
