Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, and the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate in the June 2026 election, Dr Wole Oluyede, have pledged to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The duo made the commitment on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti at a mobilisation rally organised by the Oluyede Progressive Alliance for Renewed Hope Agenda.
The event, tagged “20,000 Steps for Tinubu,” brought together PDP supporters and other political stakeholders as part of efforts to mobilise support for Tinubu across the state’s 16 local government areas.
Oyebanji, who spoke at the gathering, said political differences between the APC and PDP should not prevent supporters of Tinubu from working together.
He commended Oluyede for backing the President despite belonging to the opposition PDP, describing the development as an opportunity for political actors in the state to cooperate.
“What is happening today speaks to the aspiration of the founding fathers of Ekiti. When they were struggling for state creation, our founding fathers desired an Ekiti where all of us would be one,” Oyebanji said.
The governor also claimed that Tinubu had had a significant impact on the state since assuming office in 2023.
“In our 30 years of existence as a state, there has been no President, living or dead, that has been so good to Ekiti people as President Tinubu,” he said.
Oyebanji urged Ekiti residents to support Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, saying APC and PDP members backing the President would work together as “one united family.”
“We are going to the election as one party, as one united family,” the governor said.
Oluyede, who contested the June 20, 2026 governorship election on the PDP platform, said his supporters would begin grassroots mobilisation for Tinubu across the state.
He said the campaign would include door-to-door engagement in the 16 local government areas, with supporters expected to canvass votes for the President.
“We are going to support President Tinubu 100 per cent. We will deliver 90 per cent (over 900,000) of the votes in Ekiti State for Tinubu,” Oluyede said.
The PDP chieftain also said he had spoken with Tinubu and received assurances concerning the development of Ekiti, adding that he had personally committed to supporting the state’s development.
Oluyede’s mobilisation comes after he withdrew his petition challenging Oyebanji’s re-election at the Ekiti State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal earlier in September.

The former PDP governorship candidate said members of his group would continue their mobilisation at the grassroots ahead of the 2027 presidential poll, urging supporters to remain committed to the campaign.
The development represents a public collaboration between political actors from the APC and PDP in Ekiti ahead of the presidential election, with Oluyede setting a 90 per cent vote target for Tinubu and Oyebanji calling for cooperation among supporters backing the President.
