- FFS saves N70m property

The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Osun State Command, has responded to a fire outbreak at a plywood warehouse along the Osogbo–Ikirun Road in Osog
bo, saving property estimated at ₦70 million.
The incident occurred on Monday morning beside Fakunkle Comprehensive High School, opposite the MRS Filling Station.
According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the Osun State Command, DSF Ojo Omoyemi Olamide, the command received an emergency call at about 6:44 a.m. from Mr. Oyegoke, Assistant Secretary of the Osun State chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

The statement said Fire Service appliance FFS 142, driven by CFA Adeyemi and with DSF Adesola Joyce in charge of the crew, departed the station at about 6:46 a.m. and arrived at the scene approximately 12 minutes later.
On arrival, the firefighters discovered that the fire had affected a warehouse measuring about 50 metres by 50 metres and used for storing various types of plywood.
The command said preliminary investigation indicated that an electrical surge from a 33kVA service wire was suspected to have caused the fire.
It added that the fire had already been brought under control by sympathisers before the arrival of the firefighters, using four 6kg Dry Chemical Powder (DCP) extinguishers.
No casualty was recorded in the incident.
The FFS estimated the value of property lost in the fire at approximately ₦2.5 million, while property worth about ₦70 million was reportedly saved through the intervention.

The firefighting crew and appliance returned to the station at about 8:18 a.m.
The Federal Fire Service urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report fire emergencies to the appropriate authorities to minimise loss of lives and property.
