The Federal Fire Service (FFS), Osun State Command, has contained a fire outbreak at Hepibuhalah Cold Room, Eja-Tutu Bus Stop, along the Gbongan–Ibadan Express Road, Owode-Ede, Osun State, saving property estimated at ₦200 million.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, September 19, 2026, with the fire service receiving a distress call at about 3:10 a.m. from Engineer Femi Adedapo, who alerted the command to the outbreak at the premises.
According to a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Federal Fire Service, Osun State Command, DSF Ojo Omoyemi Olamide, the command immediately mobilised FFS 141 to the scene.
The firefighting appliance was driven by IF Adejumo, while DSF Ogunremi led the crew.
The FFS team arrived at the scene at approximately 3:40 a.m., where it discovered that the fire was confined to the rooftop of the upper floor of a two-storey commercial shopping complex.
The affected section was estimated to cover an area of approximately 50 feet by 100 feet.
The command said preliminary investigation indicated that an electrical surge was suspected to have caused the outbreak.
The fire was subsequently brought under control through the combined efforts of the Federal Fire Service and the Osun State Fire Service.
The FFS said its crew deployed one medium jet of water from FFS 141, while additional support was provided by the Osun State Fire Service appliance, registration number OS 653-A01, from the Abere Fire Station.
The coordinated firefighting operation successfully prevented the fire from spreading to other parts of the commercial complex and nearby properties.
No casualty was recorded in the incident.
While the value of property lost to the fire was estimated at about ₦10 million, the command said property worth approximately ₦200 million was saved as a result of the prompt response and effective firefighting operation.
The Federal Fire Service urged members of the public to observe necessary fire safety precautions, particularly in commercial premises, and to promptly report fire outbreaks to emergency responders.
The command also advised residents and business owners to remain vigilant and take appropriate measures to prevent electrical faults and other hazards that could trigger fire outbreaks.
