Practices you must avoid, if you want to do well

Reflection for the day

By Olubunmi Adebayo

*To do well in business, there are practices you must be conscious about and pay attention to, with the intention of avoiding them because of dire consequences on your business, or career.*

*1) NON-PAYMENT OF YOUR VOWS – Declining to pay whatever you pledge to God is a quiet way of enslaving yourself. Please read the verse below :*

*Eccl 5:[4] When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.*
*[5]Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.*

*Please pay attention to verse 5 above :*
*”It is better you don’t vow to God, than vow and fail to pay your vow”.*

*Permit me to ask you this please: “are there no vows you have made with God that you failed to redeem?” Please think about it.*

*2) BORROWING WITHOUT PAYING BACK :*
*Similar to point one above, some people are experts at borrowing from others without paying back or giving back what was borrowed.*

*The truth of the matter is that he who borrows from his friends or neighbours and fails to pay back has closed the door on future assistance from such people. This is apart from the fact that a man who borrows without paying back is a fellow without integrity.*

*Please hear the mind of God on this :*

*Exodus 22: [26] If thou at all take thy neighbour’s raiment to pledge, thou shalt deliver it unto him by that the sun goeth down.*

*God says “pay back before Sunday goes down”.*

*3) EXTORTION: This is the act of making an unwilling person to part with his possessions for your own interest.*

*Please hear the mind of God on this:*

*Leviticus 19:[13 ]Thou shalt not defraud thy neighbour, neither rob him: the wages of him that is hired shall not abide with thee all night until the morning.*

*4) ENGAGING IN USURY : This is the practice of lending to people with unreasonable interest to pay on top of it.*

*A man who does this makes repayment very difficult for the borrower, and which should not be.*

*Some lenders are even so terrible to a level that there is nothing you borrow from them that you will ever succeed in paying back. In fact, if you dare put down your property to borrow from them, you better say a final bye bye to the property. This is because they will frustrate all your efforts at paying back.*

*Ezek 22:[12] In thee have they taken gifts to shed blood; thou hast taken usury and increase, and thou hast greedily gained of thy neighbours by extortion, and hast forgotten me, saith the Lord GOD.*

*Another passage of the Bible says :*

*Psalms 15:[5] He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.*

*Exo 22: [25]If thou lend money to any of my people that is poor by thee, thou shalt not be to him as an usurer, neither shalt thou lay upon him usury.*

*To be concluded tomorrow, God willing.*

Do have a great time in God’s presence today 👍
