A public affairs analyst, Mr Samuel O. Ojo, JP, has appealed to the Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to extend his ‘ongoing good deeds’ to the state owned Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, RUGIPO, to improve the welfare of the institution’s workers and pensioners.
He made the appeal in a statement on Friday, where he also recalled what he described as the governor’s responsive attention to the groaning of the retirees in the civil service and his dynamism in defraying their gratuty .
He said “My appeal to you as the Visitor to Rugipo like any of the tertiary institutions in Ondo State is to extend similar gesture to them.”
Ojo, who was a former spokesman of RUGIPO, said:
“I come with a warm applause and euphoria to celebrate the Executive Governor of Ondo- State- Dr.Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on his progressive efforts to bring development to Akure and other parts of Ondo State.
“The flyover and road rehabilitation currently going on in Ondo- State are positive testimonies of a good heart and governance.l salute you .
“I should not fail to demonstrate a profound gratitude to the increament of 60% subvention to all tertiary lnstitutions in Ondo – State.It may appear to be a peanut but the good intention can be improved upon.
“As a populist governor and good listener to public opinions, l wish to bring the attention of the Governor to his good promises to Rufus Giwa Polytechnic,Owo ( Rugipo) and in upgrading the institition into a university.Only a visionary governor can bring it to bear.More grace to fulfilment of this noble dream.
“Our amiable Governor, it is pertinent to mention here than your on going good deeds should be extended to Rugipo to bring improvement to the welfare of the workforce and the pensioners.
“We are not unaware of your responsive attention to the groaning of the retirees in the civil service and your dynamism in defraying their gratuties.
“My appeal to you as the Visitor to Rugipo like any of the tertiary institutions in Ondo- State is to extend similar gesture to them
“Let me for once appreciate your directive policy on Education and your good choice for an erudite like Professor Igbekele Ajibefun as a Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology. He is a trusted ally who means well for Ondo State.
“The Committee saddled with the implementation of the new minimum wage in Rugipo should be urged to turn in their report so that job enhancement through desired motivation can
be attained.
“Evidently, there is a cordial and peaceful job relation with all stakeholders in the institution. The giant efforts of the current Ag .Rector, Dr Lawson Olorunwa is yielding good results.
“With the aforestated, a timely release of the Committee’s report on Minimum wage and its implementation will turn the institution to a silicon valley in Ondo -State and beyond.”
