Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has raised concerns over the conduct of the ongoing governorship election, calling on security agencies to remain vigilant and ensure a peaceful and credible process.
He spoke to journalists immediately after casting his vote at his polling unit in Ede, saying the election was going well but expressing concern over information he claimed to have received from his supporters across the state.
Adeleke alleged that a police officer identified as “London” from Port Harcourt had been brought into Osun State with the intention of disrupting voting in Ede.
He therefore called on the Inspector-General of Police, the Police Commissioner and Deputy Inspector-General of Police overseeing the election, as well as other security agencies, to take note of the allegation and “do the needful.”
The Governor also urged residents of Ede to remain vigilant while conducting themselves peacefully throughout the electoral process.
Adeleke further expressed concern over the movement of election materials and results, insisting that the established process—from polling units to wards and then local government collation—must be followed.
He said any attempt to bypass the prescribed procedure and move directly to a collation centre would be unacceptable.
Despite his concerns, the Governor maintained confidence in his electoral prospects, declaring that, by the special grace of God, he would emerge victorious.
His comments came shortly after he exercised his franchise, as voting continued peacefully at his polling unit in Ede.
