Acting Rector of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, RUGIPO, Engr. (Dr.) Lawson Olorunwa Sunday

I have taken my time as one of the stake holders in Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo and as a public affairs analyst to peruse the achievements of the incumbent Ag.rector of the institution within his 100 days in Office.
According to him,an avanlache of attainments had been recorded stemming from restoration of industrial peace, prompt and regular payment of salaries, renewal of academic culture, conclusion of the 2023 promotion exercise, commencement of pending 2024/2025 promotion exercise, payment of portions of retirees gratuities, accreditation of 12 academic programmes to provision of a new school portal.
Having thoughtfully assessed the aforementioned, it is evident that the relative peace in the institution must have been the product of his concerted efforts at repositioning the crisis riddled institution
The listed achievements within short a period is an indication that the incumbent Ag.Rector knows what it takes to head an institution like RUGIPO.
A demonstration that he is fully prepared to saddle the task.
Most unlike his predecessor, his decision to carry the unions along, periodic rector/ staff forum and seeking the hand of God in the runnigs of the affairs of tbe institution has helped him greatly in achieving the above feat.
There is a clear departure from the insensitivity of Management to tbe plights of workers in the institution. He grew up to understand the index of tbe administrative capacity of Prof Igbekele Ajibefun in transforming RUGIPO during his tenure as the rector of RUGIPO years back.
Much as he has started well, he needs to drive his vision with passion to be able to lay an enduring legacy.
It is in this vein, l wish to appeal to our dear populist Governor Dr Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa to motivate the dynamic Rector to greater performance.
The Committee saddled to look into the implementation of the new minimum wage should gear up efforts to conclude and summit their report for tbe consideration of the Visitor to the institution.
In doing this on time will further enhance efficiency from the workforce and also help Management of the institution to make progress.
I need to commend the giant efforts of the Ondo State Governor towards alleviating the sufferings of the workforce in RUGIPO.Such efforts should be sustained to ensure that the earnings of the workers are at par with their colleagues.
