Osun State Governor and Accord Party governorship candidate, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on Wednesday received royal blessings and overwhelming endorsements from traditional rulers, community leaders and residents during his campaign consultation tour of Irepodun Local Government Area ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Accompanied by members of the Imole Campaign Council (TICC), he visited Erin-Osun and Ilobu where thousands of supporters lined major streets to welcome him, turning both communities into carnival-like scenes marked by songs, dancing and chants of support.
Highlight of the visit was the endorsement Adeleke received from the Elerin of Erin-Osun, Oba Yusuf Adekunle Omoloye Oyagbodun II, and the Olobu of Ilobu, Oba Ashiru Olatoye Olaniyan II, who offered royal prayers for his re-election and expressed confidence in his administration’s performance.
At the palace of the Elerin, leaders of the Erin-Osun Progressive Union (EPU), led by its National President, Chief Kayode Olawale, commended the governor for what they described as his inclusive style of governance, noting that the community had benefited significantly from appointments into government, employment opportunities and the recruitment of teachers.
Olawale said the administration had demonstrated commitment to human capital development and urged the governor to complement those achievements with additional infrastructure projects for the town.
“We appreciate your massive inclusion of Erin-Osun in your government. You have done well, and we are hopeful that you will be re-elected. As you continue developing the human capacity of our town, we also appeal for more infrastructural development. Erin-Osun supports you, and by the grace of God, you will be victorious,” he said.
Responding, Governor Adeleke thanked the people of Erin-Osun and the entire Irepodun Local Government for their continued support, assuring them that his administration would sustain its developmental programmes across all parts of Osun State.
The governor maintained that his administration had fulfilled the promises made during the 2022 governorship campaign, adding that greater developmental projects would be delivered if he secures another mandate.
“I appreciate your support. When we came here in 2022,
” I promised you good governance, and I have fulfilled what I promised. But the people have not seen anything yet. We will do much more for Osun State,” Adeleke said.
The campaign train later moved to Ilobu, where another large crowd welcomed the governor and members of the campaign council.
Addressing the rally, former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Lasun Yusuf, speaking on behalf of political leaders and stakeholders in Irepodun Local Government, passed a vote of confidence on Governor Adeleke’s administration.
Lasun described the governor’s performance as impressive and assured him that the people of the council area would reward him with overwhelming votes in the August 15 governorship election.
The Elerin of Erin-Osun also offered prayers for Adeleke, expressing confidence that the governor would secure victory at the polls and continue his developmental programmes across the state.
Similarly, the Olobu of Ilobu pledged the support of his community for the governor’s second-term ambition.
The monarch prayed for divine guidance and strength for Adeleke, expressing optimism that the people of Ilobu and the wider Irepodun Local Government would stand firmly behind his re-election bid.
“You have our prayers and our support. Ilobu stands with you, and the people of Irepodun Local Government will once again support your re-election. May God grant you victory and strengthen you to continue delivering good governance and development across Osun State,” the traditional ruler declared
The campaign tour formed part of the Imole Campaign Council’s statewide consultation and mobilisation programme aimed at engaging traditional institutions, community stakeholders and residents as political activities intensify ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
The visit further underscored the strategic importance of Irepodun Local Government in the forthcoming election, with party leaders expressing confidence that the turnout and endorsements received during the tour reflected growing grassroots support for Governor Adeleke’s re-election bid.
