Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved a consolidated salary structure and official vehicles for the state’s three headmasters-general.
The Executive Chairman of the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board, Prof. Femi Akinwumi, disclosed this in a statement made available in Ado-Ekiti on Friday.
The beneficiaries are Mrs Monisola Oguntamore (Ekiti Central), Mr Isaac Ogunleye (Ekiti South) and Mrs Bola Omotoso (Ekiti North), who were appointed in June 2025.
According to Akinwumi, the approval is aimed at strengthening administrative leadership, improving school supervision and enhancing service delivery in public primary schools across the state.
He said the governor recognised the strategic role of the headmasters general in driving quality teaching, learning and effective monitoring at the basic education level.
“The gesture is aimed at strengthening administrative leadership, improving school supervision and enhancing effective service delivery in public primary schools across the state.
“The consolidated salary structure and official vehicles will enhance mobility, improve monitoring of schools, boost morale and attract competent hands to leadership positions in the basic education sub-sector,” the governor was quoted as saying.
Akinwumi added that the approval reflected the administration’s commitment to improving basic education through teacher recruitment, prompt payment of salaries and pensions, renovation and construction of classrooms, provision of learning materials and continuous professional development for teachers.
“Our headmasters general are the engine room of basic education administration. By equipping them properly and rewarding their office, we are investing in better supervision, accountability and improved outcomes for our children,” he stated.
He said the state had also sustained its free and compulsory basic education policy while strengthening collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission and other development partners to improve infrastructure and learning outcomes.
The SUBEB chairman described the approval as a landmark step towards strengthening the administration of basic education in the state, saying it would remove operational bottlenecks and enhance effective supervision of public primary schools.
He urged the headmasters-general to justify the confidence reposed in them through diligence, transparency and commitment to duty.
