*As indicated yesterday, we shall be looking at how to manage the state of serious overwhelming experience we may be going through.*
*In looking at this subject, you must understand that you have a critical role to play in managing any overwhelming situation you may be facing. Therefore, know that a lot depends on you, more importantly than any other management approach anyone may theorize.*
*1) The first step is to come to terms with the fact that any man can face a state of intimidating stress and pressure. Failure to admit will put you in jeopardy of serious, if not fatal consequences. Our senior citizens easily die of stress, not necessarily because of what they do, but because in doing what they do, they act and behave as if they still have with them their strength of age 30 or age 40. Before they realize it, that which they do becomes overwhelming to the point of turning fatal to them.*
*Admit that you neither know it all, nor can you do all that is needed to be done, all by yourself.*
*2) The moment you come to terms with the fact that you are indeed limited as a human being, then transfer the burden of the overwhelming situation to God, and to others.*
*In this case, you must not fret over how things will turn, or not out thereafter.*
*It takes a lot of faith in God, and belief in others to walk this lane of life. Transfer the burden, and let go of it in its entirety.*
*3) When facing overwhelming situations, learn to take a break if you need to. Africans are very poor in taking a break from whatever they are doing. Some people are on break, and will still be working with the whole load of pressure on their head!*
*4) Have or develop people around you that can serve as your shock absorber. Such people must be people who believe in you. This is where good family relationships matter. Can you remember how you felt when you were overwhelmed, and your son or daughter, or spouse came up to help you relax, while he or she handles the rest of the assignment? Great relief will fill your heart and soul. For those of us around people that are overwhelmed, let us do well to come to their rescue, the best way we can.*
*5) Be positive minded in such situations. Have a knowing in your mind, that even the present emerging situation is a phase of life that has come, and will also pass away like previous ones before it.*
*6) Don’t forget to ask for help if you need to, including from professionals like Counselors, and Guardians. Interacting with such people will go a long way in easing things around you.*
*7) Do not bury yourself in any undue sorrow and despair. A mind in despair cannot go far in life, or solve any serious challenge. Bob Marley once sang that Africans should free ourselves from mental slavery. In this case, learn to free yourself of all mental despair. Jesus Christ said : “you believe in the Lord, believe in me and my words also, in my father’s house there are many mansions”. He concluded by saying, “if it were not so, I would have told you”.*
*Learn to believe in the Lord God with the whole of your heart, and learn to cast your burdens on him. His words say “He cares for us”. But you can only cast your burden on the one that you know, and have a relationship with. This is where accepting The Lordship of Christ comes in. If you genuinely do, casting your cares on him will certainly not be difficult for you.*
Top of the day to you 👍
