Elizade University now to offer Software Engineering, Mechatronics, Public Health, M.Phil./Ph.D Architecture

Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Ondo State, has recorded another significant milestone in its quest for academic excellence and innovation as the National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved four new academic programmes for the institution.

The newly approved programmes are Software Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Public Health, and M.Phil/Ph.D Architecture, and are scheduled to commence in October 2026.

In a statement, the University’s spokesman, Mr. Williams Olufunmi, said the approval was conveyed in a letter by the commission.

According to the statement, “This followed a comprehensive resource verification exercise conducted by a panel of experts from the NUC, who visited the University recently to assess the adequacy of its human resources, physical infrastructure, teaching facilities, laboratories, workshops, studios, and other academic resources required for the proposed programmes.

“In its communication to the Vice-Chancellor of Elizade University, the Commission congratulated the institution on the successful outcome of the exercise and urged the University to sustain its commitment to providing adequate human and material resources for the continuous growth and development of the approved programmes.

“During the verification visit, members of the NUC team expressed admiration for the University’s impressive infrastructural development, state-of-the-art facilities, conducive learning environment, and evident commitment to quality education.

“Reacting to the approval, the Vice-Chancellor of Elizade University, Professor Philip Oguntunde, expressed appreciation to the National Universities Commission for what he described as a thorough, professional, and objective assessment process.

“Professor Oguntunde noted that the approval further validates the University’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence and its strategic vision of producing globally competitive graduates equipped with the knowledge, skills, and entrepreneurial mindset required to thrive in an increasingly dynamic world.

“According to him, “The newly approved programmes are carefully designed to respond to emerging national and global demands in technology, healthcare, and the built environment.”

“The Vice-Chancellor added that the introduction of Software Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering aligns with the University’s determination to remain at the forefront of technological advancement and the Fourth Industrial Revolution, while the Public Health programme is aimed at producing professionals capable of addressing contemporary health challenges and contributing meaningfully to community well-being.

“Also speaking on the development, the Registrar of the University, Mr. Omololu Adegbenro, described the approval as another pointer to Elizade University’s growing reputation as one of Nigeria’s emerging centres of excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and professional development.

“He stated that the approval further strengthens the University’s capacity to contribute to national development through cutting-edge research, technological innovation, and the production of highly skilled manpower across critical sectors of the economy.

“Mr. Adegbenro noted that the approval of the postgraduate programmes in Architecture at the M.Phil and Ph.D levels represents a major boost to advanced research and scholarship in the discipline and reinforces the University’s commitment to expanding postgraduate education.
