Strength versus wisdom – 2

Reflection for the day

By Olubunmi Adebayo

*Today, we shall include on yesterday’s reflections about the dangers a man of strength faces when his life is not regulated by wisdom as typified by obedience to God’s directives.*

*Please take your time and ponder about the following examples :*

*1) The strength of Samson was not moderated with humility and obedience to God and to his parents. He ended up dying with his enemies, his eyes gorged out, becoming a blind man who was made to grind corn and dance to the songs of his adversaries.*

*2) The opportunity before Gehazi was unbelievable. But he failed to understand the power of timeliness for every action by a follower that is waiting on a master : you don’t outrun your boss or leader. He allowed materialism to destroy him and his chances of greatness in life.*

*3) The wisdom of Solomon became perverted with indiscipline because he allowed his heart to seek after the strange gods and idols as they were brought by his wives from other nations.

He became distracted by shifting his focus from God to something else. His wisdom ended up becoming foolishness. Or how could a wise man be married to 700 wives and 300 concubines on the sideline at the same time? A man with just one wife can hardly fully explore her in a lifetime, much more 1000 women in the lifespan of just one man!

Solomon indirectly gave approval for immorality and promiscuity. This was because if these ladies would not get satisfaction from him (and there was no way he could have satisfied their conjugal desires), they would have sought for such elsewhere. His action was nothing short of foolishness to any wise person.*

*4) Judas Ischariot was greedy and disloyal to his Master. As a matter of fact, the crime of Gehazi was a kindergarten crime compared to the PhD degree crime of Judas Ischariot. How could someone contemplate selling his Master for money, let alone the Messiah of humanity? He simply allowed the devil to use and destroy him.*

*What strength is there at your disposal?*

*Strength of wisdom or of wealth?*
*Strength of influence?*
*Strength of position?*
*Strength of oratory?*
*Strength of brilliance?*
*Strength of power?(Remember, power corrupts).*
*Strength of money?(Remember, the love of money is the root of all evil)*
*Strength of inheritance?(Remember, there could be another Pharaoh who does not know Joseph)*
*Strength of whatsoever?*

*Always remember the warning from the Lord : 1 Cor. 10:12 : “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed, lest he fall”.*

*Conclusively, please watch your strength so that it does not become your stepping stone to weakness and disaster in life.*

Top of the day to you 👍.
