There was jubilation among Osun State pilgrims in Makkah as Governor Ademola Adeleke fulfilled his pledge to support them during the 2026 Hajj exercise by distributing cash gifts to all pilgrims from the state.
The governor approved a cash gift of 100 Saudi Riyals each for the 980 pilgrims currently performing Hajj in Makkah and Madinah.
The distribution took place at the Osun State Pilgrims House in Makkah, where the State Amir-ul-Hajj and Chairman of the Osun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Maruf Olawale Ishola, addressed the pilgrims on behalf of the governor.
Governor Adeleke expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the state’s contingent, commending their discipline, spiritual commitment and support for his administration.
He said the financial gesture aimed at making the pilgrims’ stay in Saudi Arabia more comfortable and providing additional support as they prepare for their return journey to Nigeria.
He also expressed delight over reports indicating that none of the 980 pilgrims from Osun State had violated any of the rules and regulations governing Hajj operations in Saudi Arabia.
Adeleke urged the pilgrims to continue praying for peace, progress and development in Osun State and Nigeria, while seeking divine intervention in addressing the nation’s security challenges.
“Regardless of human efforts at tackling insecurity, prayer remains the most potent weapon against the menace that has continued to hamper national development,” the governor said.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare of all residents of Osun State and commended the State Amir-ul-Hajj, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Maruf Olawale Ishola, members of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, and the Administrative Secretary of the Board, Mr. Muritala Fakunle, for their efforts in ensuring a successful Hajj operation.
Responding, Sheikh Ishola expressed gratitude to Governor Adeleke for his continuous support, which he said had contributed significantly to the smooth conduct of the 2026 Hajj exercise.
In appreciation of the governor’s gesture, the pilgrims offered prayers for the success of his administration and for continued peace, stability and prosperity in Osun State and Nigeria.
