Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Gotan, has assured residents of the state of adequate security arrangements ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration in the state.

He said the Command has put all necessary measures in place to ensure a peaceful, safe, and hitch-free Sallah celebration across the state just as he urge people to be vigilant.

The assurance was contained in a press statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Osun State Command, Abiodun Ojelabi.

According to the statement, the police command has commenced strategic deployment of personnel and operational assets to various parts of the state, including highways, worship centres, recreational facilities, parks, major entry and exit points, and other sensitive locations to strengthen security during the festive period.

CP Gotan said the Command remains fully prepared and committed to guaranteeing the safety of lives and property before, during, and after the Eid-el-Kabir celebrations.

He explained that officers and men of the Command have been directed to intensify confidence-building patrols, surveillance operations, intelligence gathering, and crime prevention activities in order to prevent any security breach.

The police boss urged residents to celebrate peacefully and conduct themselves in accordance with the law, stressing that security agencies would not tolerate any act capable of threatening public peace or disrupting the celebration.

“The Command has deployed both human and operational resources across the state to ensure that residents celebrate the Eid-el-Kabir peacefully without fear. We are committed to protecting lives and property throughout the festive period and beyond,” the statement said.

CP Gotan further appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security personnel deployed across the state, noting that officers assigned to the operation have been instructed to be professional, civil, and respectful of citizens’ fundamental human rights while carrying out their duties.

He also encouraged residents to promptly report suspicious movements, criminal activities, or distress situations to the police through the emergency line 08039537995 or the nearest police station for immediate response.

The Commissioner of Police thereafter extended warm greetings to Muslim faithful across Osun State and visitors coming into the state for the celebration, wishing them a joyous, peaceful, and successful Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
