There is joy ahead of your pains

Reflection for the day

By Olubunmi Adebayo

*If anyone considers deeply the pains a woman goes through in birthing a child into the world, certainly no woman would want to venture into the business of giving birth to children.*

*Can you guess the implication of that? Over time, the human race will be in jeopardy of extinction.*

*What therefore is the driving force behind a woman’s willingness to defy the odds of the pains, and even be ready to put her life on the line in birthing the next generation?*

*It is because of the declaration of Apostle Paul, and the principle of life aptly captured in the verse below – Rom.8:18 :*

*”I consider that what we suffer at this present time cannot be compared at all with the glory that is going to be revealed to us.” (Goodnews Bible version)*

*Sir/Ma, if you dwell long enough on this powerful verse of the Bible, it will always serve as a launching pad for your inspiration to keep going forward no matter what comes across your way in life.*

*I have deliberately used the Goodnews version of the Bible because that version of the Bible captures the intended message here adequately.*

*This quote can be simplified as follows : “the pains you have been feeling can’t compare with the joy that is coming.”*

*Honestly, it never ceases to amaze me how a woman is ever motivated to bear such unspeakable pains in order to embrace a bundle of joy that is coming.*

*Yes, a pregnant woman at the point of travailing and giving birth, goes through the TOUGHEST journey of pain ever known to humanity. Yet, there is a joy that thrills her soul as she goes through the pains of pregnancy and the agonies of the delivery. And each birth is a joy to the world.*

*Apart from the pangs of pains of the moment of delivery, a pregnant woman experiences a mixture of physical, emotional, psychological and practical challenges.*

*And this truth varies a lot from pregnant person to person. Take for instance :*

*1. Morning sickness & fatigue, in the form of nausea, vomiting, and extreme tiredness due to hormone changes.*

*2) Body changes over time: back pain, pelvic pain, swollen feet/ankles, shortness of breath, and trouble sleeping as the baby grows over time.*

*3) What about attitudinal challenges like cravings and food aversions.*

*4) Emotional and mental challenges.Mood swings.*

*All of the above will still not deter a woman from going ahead to conceive and give birth.*

*There is something worthy all of us should learn from this lesson of life :*

*No matter what you are going through at each moment of your life, never focus on the pains of the moment, but BE ENCOURAGED BY THE JOY AND GLORY AHEAD.*

Top of the day to you 👍
