The Imole Campaign Council (TICC) has declared that the growing criticism from the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is driven by fear over the rising popularity and performance record of Governor Ademola Adeleke ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

In a statement issued on Sunday by its spokesperson, Pelumi Olajengbesi, Esq., the council said the widespread acceptance of Governor Adeleke among Osun residents was rooted in what it described as “visible and impactful governance” across various sectors of the state.

TICC noted that the opposition APC had become increasingly unsettled by the governor’s achievements, stressing that the party’s “constant attacks and propaganda” were signs of desperation as the election draws closer.

According to the council, Governor Adeleke’s administration has restored confidence in governance and delivered projects and policies that directly improve the welfare of the people.

“There is no better indication that the Osun APC is troubled by Governor Adeleke’s achievements than its persistent criticism of progress and deliberate distortion of facts,” the statement read.

The group argued that instead of criticising the current administration, the APC should apologise to Osun people for what it called years of hardship and poor governance during the party’s time in power.

It added that the Adeleke administration has spent the last three and a half years rebuilding public trust, improving workers’ welfare and driving infrastructural development across the state.

TICC further maintained that the governor’s achievements have become the foundation of his growing acceptance among the electorate, insisting that residents of the state are prepared to reward him with another term in office.

The council also challenged the APC and its campaign organisation to present a comparative account of their achievements during their 12-year rule in Osun if they intend to seek the support of the people.

It stated that Osun residents have not forgotten the alleged “damage and pains” inflicted on the state under the APC administration, adding that Governor Adeleke is laying a solid foundation for future generations through people-oriented governance.

The statement expressed confidence that despite opposition criticism, the people of Osun would continue to stand with Governor Adeleke because of what it described as “exceptional transformation” witnessed under his leadership.

TICC predicted that the governor’s performance and popularity would translate into a landslide victory for him in the forthcoming governorship poll.
