Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed allegations linking its governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), with hoodlums, describing the claims as false, unfounded, and politically motivated.
In a statement issued on Sunday by its Director of Media and Information, Mogaji Kola Olabisi, the party accused what it described as a “faceless” campaign group allegedly aligned with Governor Ademola Adeleke of fabricating the claims to discredit its candidate ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
The APC insisted that Oyebamiji remains a “peaceful and focused” candidate, adding that there is no basis for the allegations of links to criminal elements.
The party also took a swipe at the Accord Party, accusing it of amplifying what it called “baseless propaganda,” while claiming that growing support and defections to the APC were causing anxiety among opposition groups.
The statement said “no amount of misinformation” would stop the APC from winning the forthcoming election, expressing confidence that its candidate would emerge victorious.
In a counter-allegation, the APC accused the Adeleke administration of harbouring criminal elements within government circles, a claim it did not substantiate with verifiable evidence.
The party further referenced past incidents of political violence in the state, alleging that members and supporters of the APC were victims during previous election cycles. It claimed that such events remain fresh in public memory and should not be ignored in current political discourse
The statement also questioned the credibility of the group behind the allegations, describing it as non-existent and created solely to spread misinformation.
Reaffirming its position, the APC urged the public to disregard what it termed “fabricated narratives,” insisting that its campaign would remain focused on issues and governance.
