The Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, and Oyo State Governor, Engnr  Seyi Makinde

Oyo State Government and the Olubadan of Ibadan, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja have both debunked an alleged plot to dethrone the monarch.

They described the allegation by a former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose, which has since gone viral, as a tissue of lie from the pit of hell.

In fact, the Government described the allegation “coming from the unofficial spokesman of our opponents,” as ‘thoughtless propaganda” foisted by “desperate politics” that “reduces democracy into a joke.”

In separate reactions, the government and the royal father said Fayose’s allegation was unfounded and baseless as the Governor Seyi Makinde-led Oyo State Government, and Oba Ladoja, who himself is a former Governor of the state, maintain a cordial relationship.

Fayose, had on his X handle, on Sunday, written that Governor Makinde was plotting to remove Ladoja as  the Olubadan of Ibadanland.

According to the Ekiti State former governor, Makinde was set to kick off the alleged dethronement plot this week by issuing Ladoja a query for not attending the elevation ceremony of High Chief Sharafadeen Ali to the status of Oba in Ibadan last week.

That story, titled “Makinde plotting to remove Olubadan over allegations – Fayose alleges”, read:

Former governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose, has alleged plot by the Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, to remove the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rahidi Adewolu Ladoja.

Fayose claimed in a post on his official X handle on Sunday that the plot is to kick off this week, stating that a query would be issued to the king.

According to the former governor, the query would contain several allegations against the monarch.

Fayose wrote, “The plot is to commence this week, with Government Query to be issued against Olubadan, citing his absence at the failed coronation of High Chiefs in Ibadanland two weeks ago, and other allegations”

Reacting, Oyo State Government, through the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Prince Dotun Oyelade, said the government had never contemplated, discussed, or planned such an action.

His wirds, “By now, Nigerians know who and what to believe, especially when the information comes from a particular quarter.

“Oyo State Government has never contemplated, discussed, or planned such an action.

“There has to be a credible motive for every government action, and this, coming from the unofficial spokesman of our opponents, is better put in the refuse dump where it belongs.

“Desperate politics foists thoughtless propaganda and reduces democracy into a joke.”

In his own reaction, Oba Ladoja, through Also, his media aide, Adeola Oloko, described the statement credited to Fayose as an unfounded and baseless rumour.

Oloko said there is no rift between Governor Makinde and the monarch to warrant such claims.

His words, “It will be most unfortunate if it is not a rumour.

“I don’t see any cause for friction between Governor Makinde and the Olubadan of Ibadanland.”

It will be recalled that Governor Makinde, and FCT minister Nyesom Wike, who are heading the two opposing factions of the embattled Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, are involved in struggles over the control of the party.
