A coalition of political parties in Osun State has expressed confidence in the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state, commending its neutrality ahead of the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

The parties, in a statement issued in Osogbo on Wednesday and signed by the State Chairman of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Hon. Odesola Oluseye Titus, on behalf of other party leaders, praised INEC for maintaining professionalism and fostering a peaceful atmosphere in the lead-up to the polls.

According to the statement, INEC officials in the state have demonstrated a high level of competence and preparedness, particularly since the commencement of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise.

Odesola specifically lauded the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Osun State, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, for his proactive approach to voter sensitisation and inclusiveness.

“The early sensitisation embarked upon by the Osun REC is commendable and unprecedented in the history of elections in our state,” .

“Dr. Agboke has shown respect for all political parties and has assured stakeholders of his commitment to remain impartial in the conduct of the forthcoming election.”

The political parties therefore passed a vote of confidence in the REC, expressing optimism that the Osun governorship election would serve as a model for credible electoral processes across the country.

“We are solidly behind him because of the trust we have in his integrity. We are confident that he will conduct a free, fair, transparent, and credible election,” the statement added.
The group also called on residents of Osun State to actively participate in the electoral process, stressing that voting remains a fundamental civic responsibility.

“We urge the people of Osun to come out en masse and exercise their right to choose their leaders,” the statement concluded.
