The leadership of Ifedayo Local Government Area in Osun State on Tuesday commenced a massive roads grading exercise across the council, aimed at improving transportation and connecting rural communities to urban centres.
The initiative was met with widespread appreciation from residents, who also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the positive impact of Local Government Autonomy.
At the flag-off ceremony in Oke-Ila-Orangun, Ifedayo Local Government Chairman, Hon. Samuel Idowu Abiodun, described the grading exercise as “a child of necessity” to facilitate movement and stimulate the local economy.
Hon. Abiodun, who also serves as State Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), emphasized that the initiative would ease the conveyance of people and farm produce from villages to towns.
“The ongoing 35km roads grading exercise reflects the pro-people developmental agenda of APC-led councils in Osun. Roads grading is a fundamental responsibility of the council to ease transportation and improve accessibility for our citizens, particularly farmers and motorists,”
Hon. Abiodun said. “This exercise is already receiving commendation from beneficiaries, and we pledge to make it a regular routine while continuing to implement more people-focused projects.”

He assured residents that the council would sustain the delivery of democratic dividends through timely implementation of impactful projects and programmes.
Several rural dwellers also praised the exercise, describing it as a “welcome development” that would open up their communities for socioeconomic growth.
Beneficiaries who spoke at the event included Alhaji Yekini Sulaiman, Mrs. Esther Agboola, Mr. Adeyemi Babatunde, Alhaji Jelili Owolabi, Mr. Kazeem Azeez Ademola, Mr. John Amos, Mr. Afolabi Muftau, Mr. Jimoh Oladosu, and Mrs. Oladipo Oluwakemi.
The flag-off ceremony was attended by Ifedayo Local Government Vice Chairman, Hon. Faronbi Adegbola, APC stalwarts, and loyal party members.
