Ondo State Government on Saturday commended the gallant Amotekun operatives and other security agencies for their bravery and professionalism in the successful rescue of kidnapped victims in Akure South Local Government Area.
In a statement by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Idowu Ajanaku,, the government said:
“The Ondo State Government, under the leadership of Governor Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has commended the gallant operatives of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, other security agencies for their bravery and professionalism in the successful rescue of kidnapped victims in Akure South Local Government Area.
The government, lauded the leadership of the Amotekun Corps, particularly the Corps Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, for the well-coordinated overnight operations that led to the rescue of five victims in two separate incidents at Oke Ijebu and along the Oda–Akure axis.
According to the report, a 45-year-old man and his 15-year-old son, who were abducted at Pelebe area along Oda Road, were rescued by the Rapid Response Squad of the Corps after a fierce engagement with the kidnappers in the early hours of the day. Similarly, three health workers who were earlier abducted regained their freedom through the sustained efforts of security operatives and are currently receiving medical attention.
The government also commended other security agencies for their collaboration and synergy, which significantly contributed to the success of the operations. He further appreciated the good people of Ondo State for their vigilance and prompt intelligence sharing, which played a crucial role in alerting security agencies and facilitating the timely rescue of the victims.
The government reassures residents of its unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property across the state. Citizens are encouraged to continue supporting security agencies with credible and timely information, as collective responsibility remains key to sustaining peace and security in Ondo State.”
